    Each and every Friday it's All U Need at The Studio. Come party with
    Austin's #1 Smooth Jazz and R&B Band. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; All U

    The Studio is a club for grown folk, so please dress accordingly. The

    The Fourth Year and 1st show of 2008, Toyota/Scion presents "Make It Wet
    Spitfest" produced by La-Love Robinson and hosted by Zell Miller III, DJ
    Quan, and special musical guest Midnight Radio, and Scef including a
    dance performance by Uprise! Productions.

    This event is a high energy poetry slam featuring poets from all over. This is the hottest spoken word showcase in Texas where poets compete for money and bragging rights. This event will take place at Ruta Maya Headquarters (3601 S. Congress). Open mic at 7:00 p.m. and Slam at 8:00 p.m.

  • MARCH 29 | HAND TALK - FREE SIGN LANGUAGE CLASS
    Every Saturday, Kids 1-2p, Adults 2-3p, Join Mitchie's Gallery for Hand
    Talk - a sign language class taught by Sadrah Maxine Black. This class
    is recommended for deaf and hearing kids and adults. Hand Talk classes
    are free and open to the public. Refreshments are provided. The kid's
    class is taught in conjunction with story time.

    The Austin/Travis County Health and Human Service Mobile Van will be at
    Pan American Recreation Center located at 2100 E. 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to
    4:00 p.m. Please come out and check your health status with free
    screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, pregnancy, and STDs. There
    will also be free information available about heart disease, cancer,
    stroke, diabetes and more.

  • MARCH 29 | GIRLSTART EXPANDING YOUR HORIZONS WORKSHOP
    Girlstart will host Expanding Your Horizons from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    at University Teaching Center (UTC) located on the University of Texas
    campus. Approximately three hundred 6th - 8th grade girls will spend the
    day participating in fun-filled, hands-on workshops led by professional
    women who have careers in math, science, engineering and technology

    STOMP HARD Youth Step Show is a step show for youth organizations across
    Austin and the surrounding areas to display their talents and moves
    while promoting a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of this event is to
    stomp hard on drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

    STOMP HARD Youth Step Show is hosted by the Austin Alumnae Chapter of

  • MARCH 29 | 2008 PROFILES OF PROMINENCE
    In memory of Connie Yerwood Conner, M.D., the Austin Metroplex Chapter
    of National Women of Achievement, Inc. is hosting its 10th Biennial
    African- American Women's Profiles of Prominence ceremony (formerly
    known as the Hall of Fame).

    The awards will be presented at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1164 San
    Bernard Street, Austin, Texas at 6 p.m. (Reception at 7 p.m.). Please
