    DiverseArts is happy to announce the opening night of East End Fourth Fridays! headlining with “The Original Bells of Joy,” a soul-stirring classic gospel band that is sure to keep you on your feet. Programming and events start at 5:00 pm at participating businesses all along East 11th Street from Branch to Rosewood at Angelina. “The Original Bells of Joy” go on stage at 8:30 p.m. at Kenny Dorham's Backyard.

    East End Fourth Fridays! promises lots of activities for the kids, chances to sample the neighborhood’s eclectic supply of ethnic food, listen to the music, check out the art, and shop at the stores after hours. Bring your family and friends and be ready for a great time!

    Each year, across the nation, one event brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer. That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives.

    If you want to be a part of the fight against cancer, sign up today for the Relay For Life of East Austin, TX being held at Nelson Field located at 290 and Cameron Road.

    Please join us at Krause Springs for the Hill Country Ride because there is a route for everyone through the beautiful scenery. Adults and kids 8 years old may choose a 10, 50, or 70-mile ride. Kids ages 4-12 can participate in the Safari Adventure. All levels from very beginners to serious cyclists will have fun. Proceeds fund a donation to provide meals, housing, school supplies, and medications for orphans in Africa affected by AIDS.     Moments We Know is an interdisciplinary performance exploring epiphany and the familiar; those inspired moments that propel activism, inspire art/love/living and inform who we are/who we become.

    A joint production of UT's Center for African And African American Studies and The Austin Project, the performance will feature works by Austin performance artist Shia Shabazz.

    Stop by the Carver Museum Classroom from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and join Eugene Lee as we discuss the work of one of America's best-known African-American playwrights. Mr. Lee has portrayed numerous Wilson roles on stage and screen, and is the producer of the Black and Latino Playwrights Conference at Texas State University.

    Cultural lunches are opportunities to discuss topics related to African American history, art, life and culture. You are encouraged to bring your lunch and participate. The lunches are free, and open to public; however, seating is limited so reservations are recommended.
