- JULY 11 | FREEDOM SUMMER: HIPHOP
FOR JUSTICE CONCERT
The Austin chapter of the National HipHop Political Convention, Poder
and the ACLU Central Texas Chapter will host “The Freedom
Summer:” A HipHop for Justice Concert at the Historic Victory
Grill, 1104 East 11th Street. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The Freedom
Summer Concert brings together some of the
Austin’s’ finest HipHop artists, social justice
organizations, and activists to entertain, educate and organize members
of the community around issues concerning police misconduct, racial
profiling and the impact of the war on drugs. 7-9pm: Open mic, poetry
and spoken word from The Young Scholars For Justice 10-2am: HipHop
Acts/Know Your Rights trainings. $5 donation requested. All
proceeds will be go towards scholarships for young people to attend the
National HipHop Political Conference August 1-3 in Las Vegas.
