| Simone Talma . Marketing Director . Community Advocates for Teens and Parents . February 25 2004 All the toys you donated were distributed to all the kids in our different programs during the Holiday season. This year we were able to give gifts to kids, whereas in past years that was not possible due to funding constraints. You saved us money and were able to help us reach out more to the community. Again thank you for all your support. Richard Logan . Club Manager at Tangerines Nightclub . November 7 2003 I am so pleased with the results of Hallowgroove 2 this year. As you might imagine, my bosses were very pleased with sales for that night. It was one of our most successful nights in recent memory. Thanks so much to you and your team for your professionalism. You proved to be very trustworthy promoters...not something you see often.... I look forward to working with you again in the future. I certainly had a blast! Jennifer Marshall . Randomhouse Publicist for E. Lynn Harris . July 9 2003 I've conducted public relations campaigns on behalf of bookstores, authors, and publishers for ten years. Through my work, I've met a great many community and book-minded professionals from all over the United States (and, indeed, the world). Most of these people have been wonderful to work with, but very few have had the organizational skills, creativity, commitment to their community, and ability to deliver as Austin's griotemedia/soulciti.com. I had the pleasure of working with soulciti when I scheduled a booksigining for best-selling novelist E. Lynn Harris at the Barnes & Noble in Austin, Texas. I was contacted by griotmedia and told about their web property - soulciti which targets Austin's African American community. The site is full of local and national news and has a wonderful events calendar and lots of smart original content. It was suggested that soulciti co-promote E. Lynn Harris's event by creating a contest in which visitors to soulciti.com could win a limo ride and lunch with the author. Impressed by soulciti's look and content, I decided to give them a chance. But I was nervous. Not many people have experience in planning events for celebrity authors, and the task can be a very difficult one to execute well. But something about griotmedia's professional and enthusiastic manner made me trust them. And I'm glad I did! Not only did griotmedia organize a smoothly-run contest tailor-made for soulciti's viewers and Barnes & Noble's shoppers who love E. Lynn Harris, but they made it into something that would benefit the larger community as a whole. In order to enter the contest, a donation of a gently used or new children's book was necessary. Those books were donated on behalf of soulciti to a local literacy program. On top of all that, they anticipated and took care of all of the logistics: which restaurant lunch should be held at, which limo company was best to drive the winners, and which friend of E. Lynn's happened to live in Austin and would make a great "escort" for the lunch. To say I was impressed by griotmedia is putting it mildly. And E. Lynn Harris was absolutely thrilled and touched by the luncheon and everything griotmedia did to make it great. Austin is lucky indeed to have such a talented, committed, and visionary organization such as griotmedia as part of its community. Jethon Sharrieff . soulciti Subscriber . August 25 2003 Congratulations on your new endeavor and all the things you have planned. I have found soulciti to be an invaluable asset in staying up with what's going on in Austin's Bilalian Community. I'm in the Hi-tech industry and work, along with extracurricular activities ( mainly church) keeps me out of synch and soulciti keeps me up to date. Valerie Francois . soulciti Subscriber . May 15 2003 Thanks for having this valuable resource for our businesses. Andrea Pair Bryant . soulciti Subscriber . January 31 2003 Thanks you for your prompt reply....Thanks for providing an invaluable service to Austin. It's been great to see your vision come into fruition and grow. Bill Bishop . Austin American Statesman Reporter . November 20 2002 The e-mails and phone calls are pouring in. Derrick Brown . soulciti Subscriber & soulcti's official photographer. April 25 2002 My name is Derrick. First I would like to say that I really love SoulCiti. I've gotten alot of needed info over the past couple years. I was trying to get some information on the cost of having an advertising banner for my website. Thank you so much for your time and keep up the good work. Margaret Wright . soulciti Subscriber . April 20 2002 Our family thoroughly enjoys this very informative web. April 4 2002 Thank you, guys! You are truly the soul of our community's informational and motivational network. The most appealing thing is that you reach all ages and all backgrounds with the kind of information that you share. The site just keeps getting better and better! Keep up the good work!!! Jaunita Woods . soulciti Subscriber . February 25 2002 I went to the show last night and all I can say is WOW! I imagine you're e being inundated with e-mails this morning. I want to add mine to the list and thank soulciti for getting the word out. You guys do a tremendous public service and a great job keeping us informed. You're right too, when you say, that the people who complain that there's nothing to do in Austin don't want to do anything. Thanks for keeping me and my friends informed. Heather Grant . soulciti Subscriber . July 14 2000 I would like to first extend a heartfelt thanks, and give an abundance of praise to the founders of soul city for not being like the rest of us and actually doing something to connect and advertise Black events in Austin. With that having been said please add me to your subscriber list. Thank you and keep up the good work. Evelyn Malone . Owner of Marketing Business Associates, LLC . June 22 2000 MBA will be doing more business and activities in Austin and look forward to meeting you soon. Keep up the good work! Austin definitely needs your services. Thank you also for adding the MBA event to your distribution. We had patronage as a direct result!! Survey Testimonials In April of 2002, we surveyed all of our subscribers - which at the time was approximately 2,900 soulcitizens. in addition to an incredible 17% response rate, we had over 170 positive comments left for us. Because the survey was administered on an anonymous basis to encourage honest feedback, we have no way of attributing ownership of the kudos that we received from the survey. The comments below are just a sample of all that we received. Soulciti is one of the fastest, most unique and valuable community resources for networking that I've ever seen out of all the cities I've lived in across the USA. Soulciti is truly a God-send. I moved to Austin a little over a year ago and had a horrible time trying to find my people. As soon as I heard about Soulciti, and subscribed to the list, a whole new world was opened to me. Thank you for everything that you do, and the time and effort in doing it right. Also, kudos for the multitude of cultural events that you offer. I learned about soulciti from an email I received from one of the supervisors at my job and I've been grateful ever since. I moved to Austin a little over 2 yrs ago and I have to say coming from Houston it was very boring. Someone finally told me about soulciti and since then I have always had something to do, and have been able to find black owned businesses. Keep up the good work. Soulciti is the only guide for blacks to learn about upcoming events and activities. Thanks for doing what you do. I found my hairstylist on soulciti and had the opportunity to meet some great people. I'm sure soulciti.com will empower blacks in the Austin and surrounding areas. ...But since we don't really have a radio station that consistently caters to what we want to hear, we tend not to depend on the radio for our information. That's where I believe soulciti has really stepped up. Giving us a place to find out what's going on; not only in entertainment, but also in things that interest us. ... I am willing to contribute and participate as much as I can so that you can continue this service!!! Soulciti, you created a much-needed service to Austin and we are indebted to you. New businesses facing tough odds received a push thanks to your kind recommendations. Black movies won't be made if we don't go see them -- you've always encouraged that. Keep it coming! I just opened my business and I had it advertised on soulciti and I was able to get a few customers because of this. To you soulciti I personally want to say thank you and if there is anything that I could do for you (I already have some ideas) please don't hesitate to call. I have been a subscriber since the beginning, even though I had the idea for a web site for the same concept. SoulCiti is executed so well, I decided not to compete with SoulCiti. Good job, keep up the good work...... I really want to commend soulciti for providing a place where 'we' can find out whats going on. I'm always searching up on Austin360.com and Austin City Search for something to do, but can't seem to find anything that interests me. I'm looking for events where young, educated black people can go to have a good time and I've found some of those events on soulciti. I'm sick of everybody talking about how tired Austin's black scene is, but to some degree, I agree with them. We need to know when and where black events are happening and I believe soulciti is our key. Thank you soulciti. I feel that soulciti is a vital part of the African American community for Austin and surrounding areas. It was a great idea from the start and has only gotten better over the years. It says alot that Donnell and crew care enough about their community to committ to a project like this. I for one will continue to support soulciti 110%. Keep up the good work! This is an excellent vehicle that has been used in order to keep Austin's Black Community in the know. Since I relocated to Austin four years ago from the East Coast, I had no idea where the black folks were or what they were doing in Austin. I was introduced to Soulciti and I have been "plugged in" ever since. Everytime I meet someone who's new to the area, I get them "signed up." Over the last four years, I have witnessed Soulciti's evolution. Every change has always been positive. I commend the hardwork of the staff and the individual who had the vision to create such a vehicle. THANK YOU and keep up the great work!!!! I thank you for the vision of soulciti and the committment that you have for our community. There are so many things going on that soulciti is generally the only tool that I have to find out what is going on. I use soulciti to decide what I have available to do in Austin. soulciti is a wonderful resource for people like me who are looking to do more and be a viable part of austin's african american community. i will support soulciti free or not. this is a resource that i have come to know and trust and will continue to support! keep up the good work...sc... and welcome to a new era of communications. I am a native Austinite and for so long word of mouth was our medium for getting the word out about parties etc. Well, times have changed and people have changed. We need to change with those times. That is what I think Soulciti is about. It is change. It is not only preparing us for upcoming events, but for the future as well..... As a business owner, I have appreciated the help of soulciti throughout the years. I feel it's a great way for minority business owners to get the word out without spending too much advertising money directed at markets that don't apply. Keep up the good work! And I will definitely want to be a part of the first advertising opportunity once prices are established. I love soulciti, it is a breath of fresh air. I am a Supplier Diversity Coordinator for a large corporation, I feel this subscription could be a catalyst for some of our African American businesses. This is wonderful .com, I look forward to seeing whats to come. When I first came to Austin, I thought that the black community here didn't do anything. I was going to UT and I never heard about events in the African-American community at all. Once a friend told me about soulciti and I subscribed, I realized that the black community here in Austin is not only alive and well, but thriving. It has been very positive to hear about what's going on and to have a chance to get involved. Soulciti is now my lifeline to what is going on in Austin's black community, and I look forward to getting the soulciti distributions in my mailbox. I moved to Austin in August of 1999 and did not know much about the African-American community here. A friend at work forwarded Soulciti to me and I have been a subscriber ever since. I think that it is a great publication, you do a good job and keep up the good work. |
