» View the Site

Directed By:
Various

This quarterly film festival showcases short films by local and national filmmakers who submit works via mail. Flicker guarantees an array of projects and intriguing juxtapositions at every screening, with linear narratives butting up against radical experiments, polished productions followed by earnest first efforts. All films are under 15 minutes in length and originate on film. This month's program includes films by attending local filmmakers: Jeremy Dean, Carolyn London, David Powell, Josh McKnight, Roger Beebe, Tom Barndt, and Lori Surfer.

Bugs! 3-D: A Rainforest Adventure (NR, 40 min.)
Year Released: 2003
Directed By: Mike Slee
Narration: Judi Dench

/binary/227684-315-1/filmlist.Bugs.jpg Little Borneo bugs become big, three-dimensional insects through the powers of this IMAX spectacle. The sight of these minuscule creatures blown up to some 250,000 times their normal size is quite amazing to witness. However, the film anthropomorphizes a green mantis and a butterfly to show viewers their life cycles, and winds up turning the movie into a kid-friendly animal story rather than a more scientific or artistically rooted film.
